Adhirangam Ranganathaswamy temple or Ranganatha Perumal Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple Located about 60 kms South West of Villupuram on the banks of the now completely dry South Pennai river is Adhi Thiruvarangam. The Main Deity is Ranganathaswamy or Aadhi Thiruvaranga Perumal. His Consort here is Ranganayaki Thayar. The Temple dates back to the Kritha Yugam and hence known as Aadhi Thiruvarangam. At Adhi thiruvarangam temple inside Lord Ranganatha is seen in a gigantic east facing sleeping posture and measures over 15 feet, not seen in any Divya Desam , though this temple is not a Divyadesham. It is considered as one of the prathana sthalams with His consort Goddess Ranganayaki Thayar. The Temple is built in Dravidian Architecture in 5 Acres. It is one among the 108 Abhimana Kshethram of Vaishnavate tradition.

Ranganatha Perumal is believed to have appeared to king Mahabali and the Alvars at the temple’s site. Six daily rituals and a dozen yearly festivals are held there, of which the chariot festival, celebrated during the Tamil month of Chittirai (March–April), is the most prominent. The temple is open from 6 am to 8.00 pm. It is maintained and administered by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
